Recently, Kickstarter announced that over 10,000 video game projects had been successfully funded on their site. Now, they can add one more to the list in the form of Little Hawk. This action-platformer has only been on Kickstarter for a few days but has already raised $16,000, which is $1000 over their goal. And with 25 days left to go, it has the opportunity to go well above that.
Little Hawk focuses on a small village in a magical rainforest. The village isn’t doing so well, as evil forces have been brought down upon it and caused much of it to be destroyed. The chief realizes that during the attack his daughter, named Kyra, was kidnapped. A young boy named Little Hawk volunteers to go and find her, as well as punish those who took her from the village.
But, there’s a twist. In the style of Paper Mario, Kyra is not helpless, and in fact, you get to control her as she tries to escape the dungeon she is in. At the end of every zone in the game, you’ll have to help her ascend from the dungeon to the top of the castle so that she can try to escape.
There are 9 zones in the game (as presently designed), and to traverse them, both Little Hawk and Kyra must use a variety of moves. Some are simple weapon attacks, while others are magical abilities such as being able to summon a Turtle Shield, or flying short distances. They’ll need to use these abilities against a variety of creatures, including numerous jungle creatures, and some jungle bosses such as a gorilla and a cheetah.
As noted, the Little Hawk Kickstarter has already reached its funding goal, which means that if you do pledge, your reward is basically guaranteed. So if this sounds like a game for you, check it out.
