As sad and pessimistic as it may sound, cheating is a big part of video games. There are tons of people who go out of their way to find ways to cheat. Sometimes they try and cheat the game itself, sometimes they try and cheat other players, and sometimes, they actually screw with other players via programs to make them fail. One of the most common ones though is botting. Botting is when you creating a program to basically play the game for you while you’re not at your computer. And Adventure Quest 3D has had enough of it.
You’d think it wouldn’t be a problem for MMORPGs like Adventure Quest 3D, but on the contrary, MMORPGs are literally full of bot players, and true players are sick of it, and often ask for developers to do something about it. Well, the AQ3D people are doing just that. For in a blog post they made it very simple: You bot? You banned!
Does this sound harsh? Not at all. As the team notes, botting actually hurts the game. By making things automated it hurts not only the process of the game, but it affects other players and how they play it, and that’s not cool. The Adventure Quest 3D team want this title to be accessible to all, and they even joke about how the game isn’t that hard, so there’s honestly no reason to bot at all.
Oh, and when they say “banned” they don’t mean for a week, or a month, they mean forever, you’re done on that account. They even go as far as to mention that it doesn’t matter what rank you are, whether you were a big Kickstarter backer for the game, it doesn’t matter. You cheat, you’re out.
The team also encourages people to speak up and out on this. If you see someone cheating, don’t hesitate, contact the support team and get them out.
