Later this week, the team responsible for Adventure Quest 3D is going to be releasing update 1.4 for their game. In it, players will be able to use a Party System, Waypoints, Cosmetic Equips, see improvements in Battle Animations, monsters and Multi-Hit Support, and numerous bug fixes. However, as the team reveals, the process for them to “submit” new content to the main server is a little complicated.
They have two servers that they use for the game. The first one is the one that players play on, which is called “Live.” The other is the one the devs work on to see how the changes will go and affect the game, called “Dev.” For a while, they’ve simply been working on Dev, then when they had an updated ready, they would submit it to Live and see it go to work.
But, when it came to this latest update, they ran into a problem. Two of the big things for this update, the Party System and Cosmetic Equips, actually caused a plethora of changes in order to make them work. Not just on the game level, but in the database as well. What this caused was Live no longer being backward compatible, making it so the Dev server couldn’t submit some stuff to the Live server. Mainly, the Party System and Cosmetic Equips.
Thankfully, they figured out a way around this by making a new server where they could operate without having to worry about damaging the Live server. There are still problems to be had, but the team is confident that they’ll figure it out somehow.
Regardless, you should be able to play the 1.4 update for Adventure Quest 3D sometime this week, with all the improvements mentioned above included.
