Albion Online will be adding Expeditions and instanced PvE missions in the next update. The player will need to find the Expedition Master NPC in cities in order to access these missions. Expeditions don’t take a long time to complete, they are mostly short missions, so you will need about 20 or 30 minutes on average to complete them. Don’t worry, they are also quite safe, as you get transferred back to the start of the expedition if you die. You won’t lose any gear, but the gear will lose durability.
When you find the Expedition Master NPC in the city, you will get the option to either play solo or in a group (five players), and you also get to pick the Tier you want to play with. Different Tiers can be unlocked through the Destiny Board so you can play higher tiered expeditions. The players can queue up for the group expeditions as a pre-made group or as one player. Your equipment will decide what role you will be assigned to (offense, defense, support), so prepare the right gear before you sign up.
After you pick the size and tier of your expedition, you will be teleported there and will receive a mission. A portal will appear to bring you back to the city that you came from when you finish your mission. Solo expeditions give you 60 minutes to complete the mission, whilst group missions give you 120 minutes. If you don’t manage to complete the mission, you will get teleported back to the city, and if you leave an expedition early you will get a penalty timer that will restrict you from starting another expedition right away.
The Galahad update will bring these Expeditions (the exact names of these can change) to Albion Online:
Heretic Mines – Can be played solo.
Fishy Business – Can be played both solo or in a group.
Recruitment of the Dead – Can be played both solo or in a group.
Lumber Camp – Can be played both solo or in a group.
Stone War – Can be played both solo or in a group.
Sewer Maintenance – Can be played both solo or in a group.
Mushroom Cave – Can be played in a group.
Players who aren’t ready to take on the open world or players that simply don’t have a lot of time to play the game will find that Expeditions are a quick way to earn some silver and fame. You will gain extra fame and Royal Sigils when you complete an expedition, and you also get bonus fame and Sigils for the first completed expedition of the day. The acquired Royal Sigils can then be used with regular resources to create Royal armor. You can choose between Cloth, Leather, and Plate armor, and just like Artifact items, you unlock these items through the combat tree of the Destiny Board. Every piece of Royal equipment also has a unique spell, which means that 9 new spells are coming to the game.
Albion Online is developing steadily, and it has the potential to be one of the more unique and interesting MMORPGs out there.
