It’s amazing to think that Nintendo at one time had no games on mobile phones. Or at least, not legitimate ones. Instead, they chose to stay away from it. Until that is, they realized that they needed to expand their brand marketing, and so the mobile initiative began. It started with Pokemon GO from Niantic, then Super Mario Run, followed by Fire Emblem Heroes in February this year. Finally, last month got the release of Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, and the results have as positive as the previous games.
Animal Crossing has always been a beloved series at Nintendo, as it gives players the chance to build up a life in a very cute town or village, and lets them whittle the hours away doing the little things to make their town better. In Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, players get their own campsite, and are given the ability to spruce it up, bring people over to it, and, of course, tons of activities. A new one of which is being teased by Nintendo via the Animal Crossing UK Twitter feed:

That’s right, it looks like gardening and clothes crafting is coming into the game very soon. As a note, while the tweet says “next month”, other sources say it’s next week, so keep your ears open! As for who the mystery character is, fans have already guessed that it’s Rover.
So far, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp has been both critically praised and financially successful, already getting millions of dollars in microtransaction purchases. While not as “intensive” as other Nintendo games, it’s clear people don’t mind spending the money here, especially if it means making their campsites even more beautiful.
