Say what you will about the current movies DC Comics is making with the DCEU, but it’s hard to deny the success of the DCTV lineup. Spanning multiple networks, and numerous shows, DC Comics has done right by fans more often than wrong with them.
Arrow, Flash, Gotham, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Lucifer, all have done well, lasting more than one season, or more in the case of Flash and Arrow. Heck, four of them just had a crossover a little while back, and there’s always more to be done with Gotham, so who knows what’s going to happen next. Or do we know?
During a Twitter burst, DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns tweeted about these shows, and said that one more would be announced soon. Now, to be clear, there are several DC Comics shows in the works. One of them, Powerless, has already been picked up for a season. There’s also the Black Lightning series, which is headed up by one of the leads by the CW/DC Comics shows, and is apparently headed to Fox, though no word has been given as to whether it’s confirmed or not.
It also should be noted, that just because a show is announced, it doesn’t mean it’ll become reality. The infamous Titans/Blackbirds series is proof of this, and that one was headed up by Geoff Johns himself in an attempt to get Dick Grayson to the TV screen.
So, what should we make of this? Well, patience is the better part of caution here. With the back half of the CW/Fox shows premiering in the next few weeks, it wouldn’t be odd for DC to announce something for next season. But as to what? Well, your guess is as good as mine.
