One of the key things for game developers to do is communicate with their fanbase, this goes especially for MMORPG titles where communication is vital. One could argue that this is even more true for ArcheAge, an MMORPG that has been under scrutiny by much of its community for quite some time. Server issues, bad updates, and questionable decisions have marred the game, and the community has made their feelings known. So, with the upcoming major update for the game, the team has made a lot of promises in a major letter to the players.
On Steam, the team promised that in the future, starting with the Maelstrom update, players can expect more open communication between the ArcheAge team and you. There will be developer updates and diaries about the game, and tests to make sure that future updates go better.
For example, once Maelstrom is out, the next update will be a major balancing of the battle system.
And they made it clear that this balancing is going under the microscope in a big way. In fact, the new balancing tests are going on right now in the Korean community for the game.
But that’s not the only major change coming, the Marketplace has long been a request for both North American and European server regions. The way items are sold is not what it should be, and the team recognizes the please for help in this, so it’s going to happen.
And that’s just the beginning of things that are going to roll out. There’s of course the “Fresh Start” server that’s coming, there’s going to be changes being rolled out for the various regions, and the team is also teasing what’ll happen to ArcheAge when it enters the new year.
There’s a lot going on, but the next big thing is Update 4.0, aka Maelstrom, which releases on December 6th.
