And a Merry Christmas it has turned out to be, as fans of the Attack on Titan anime finally get a look at the next season. It looks quite fantastic.
Attack on Titan is largely known for many things, such as its European influenced world or its incredibly gritty tone, but perhaps nothing sells it as well as the fluid and consistent animation throughout the entire series, and that seems to be present once again in the second season.
There’s also a hint towards the appearance of a Beast Titan, which readers of the manga realize, will be quite an interesting confrontation.
For those unaware, Attack on Titan is the story of Eren Jaeger, and his quest to destroy the titans that threaten the sanctity of his home. With help from Mikasa and Armin, his childhood friends, he joins the military and seeks out revenge for the death of his mother.
This story takes a very hopeless horror tone, focusing on the massive gap of strength between humans and titans. This combines a lot of the intense shonen action with aspects of drama and myths not commonly seen in typical action anime.
The second season of Attack on Titan will address a lot of the loose ends from the previous season, focusing far more on what’s taking place within the walls. This season is set to come out at some point in 2017, correlating well with the launch pace of manga chapters. For more info on Attack on Titan season 2 as it becomes available, stay tuned.
