Awesomenauts is a MOBA title that puts you in control of the galaxy’s most famous (and infamous) mercenaries. Players are in charge of taking out the opposing team’s base while defeating enemies, no matter how many times they respawn. You collect a currency known as Solar to improve your abilities, allowing you to raise havoc and blow stuff up, all in the name of victory.
The game is popular, so much so that one its expansions was not only funded on Kickstarter, it made nearly three times its initial goal. Since then, the team at Romino have been working hard to keep the game fresh, fair, and, of course, fun. To that end, they have released update 3.5, which introduces many new things to the game, such as a new character, a new game mode, many fixes, and much more.
First up is Samuel ‘Deadlift’ Gains, who was a victim of the “The Great Bovinion Wrangling” by fellow Awesomenaut Lonestar. Because of this, he swore revenge on the cowboy but doing so ended up getting him new mechanical limbs. Now he’s a member of the Awesomenauts to show off his strength and to finally end Lonestar for what he’s done.
The biggest part of this update, however, has to be the new Map Editor. Romino is giving players the power to make maps as they see fit, then upload them to Steam Workshop so that other people can play them. This also means you can test your skills on someone else’s stage. Furthermore, you won’t be “confined” to doing the typical game mode as the Map Editor allows you to create your own modes.
The last big addition is the Skills unlock. At the beginning of the game, every character has two Skills you need to unlock. Because they’re so powerful, players would usually unlock them at the beginning of every round. Romino thinks that’s a waste of time and Solar, so from now on, both of your character skills will be unlocked at the beginning of each match, meaning you can spend that initial 150 Solar to buy more abilities for your soldier.
Other parts of the update include new character skins, nerfs and buffs, cleaning up of assets, and more. Awesomenauts just got a whole lot bigger, so go claim your victory.
