A beta version is now available for Blizzard’s updated Battle.net Desktop App and it brings a set of new social additions. Among the changes is the long-awaited Appear Offline feature.
Players have been nagging Blizzard for a long time now, to add the appear offline option and now it seems we are finally getting it. The Beta version of the desktop app can be tested by anyone.
Appearing offline will show you as offline to everyone in your Blizzard friends list. Once you have joined a game, the experience of appearing offline might be slightly different depending on which game you are playing.
To enable the beta version, head over to the Battle.net Desktop App, go to settings and click the Beta tab. There you will find the Switch to Beta Version option.
Besides adding the appear offline mode, Blizzard has also implemented some more social functions, like the Social Tab. Here you can manage all your “social interactions”, including chatting, Blizzard Groups, and chat history. The Blizzard Groups is a new feature from the developer and it helps players organize in-game activities and more. It works similarly to apps like Discord, as you can create text and voice chat channels.
Blizzard has also added an improved Profile customization feature where you can truly get others to know you and your gaming habits.
Don’t forget to provide Blizzard with some constructive feedback so that they can create a fully optimal app that will meet the needs of the community. Enable the beta mode and start testing the new social features for the Battle.net Desktop App!
