Communication is something that is very important in video games, especially when said communication is needed to outline what’s coming, what’s next, or most importantly, what’s getting fixed in the games. For MMORPGs like Black Desert Online, where patches and updates are necessary, if not vital, to the games improvement and longevity, communication from the development team to the player base is crucial. But as one player notes, communication seems to be non-existent.
This comes from player Junyoung, who notes that she’s not sure what’s going wrong with the communication between the players, the dev team, and the publishers. But it’s clear to her, and to others, that something is very wrong.
For example, when the development team reveal an update or a patch, they just say what it is, but don’t tell the players why they’re doing said things.
“The only thing we as players see and are given is black and white. Currently we either get our content or don’t with zero explanation following the statement.”
Add to that that the team isn’t giving much depth or explanation as to why certain features get delayed, or why things get changed all-of-a-sudden, and and Black Desert Online players are starting to rage because they don’t understand what’s going on. Junyoung notes that if they just gave simple explanations when they do something big, or even small, it would ease the players’ minds, and they wouldn’t gum forums and chats with rants and complaints about “what the heck is going on in Black Desert Online?”
What’s saddest through to her, is that when the game was getting ready to launch, the team held special Skype chats and other meetings online so that players could tune in and find out what was going on with the game. Yet, it’s not happening anymore, and the game is suffering because of it.
