For games like Overwatch, there are bound to be a bunch of updates and patches to add and fix current and new content. After all, though the QA team at Blizzard work hard, they can’t possibly account for everything. Such as weird bugs, impossibly complicated scenarios, and of course, character balancing. But, Blizzard is also smart in that they don’t want to just put in a patch/update without testing it. So, they put the new versions of the game and characters on the PTR first before implementing them in the main game.
The PTR is the Public Test Realm, where actual Overwatch players can not only test the updates and changes but also voice their opinions as to whether the updates/changes are actually good. Only after both sides are (mostly) content does the patch/update go through to the game.
Well, Blizzard has revealed on Reddit that a brand new PTR patch is now live, and they’re hoping you’ll help give them your thoughts on it.
So, what changes have been made? Well, there are some cosmetic changes for Sparrow Genji, when his golden weapon variant is attached, he’ll get some extra green texture details.
Then, there’s the Junkertown Map, where players have found out that certain characters can actually hide within the payload by doing certain emotes. This has been rectified, no more hiding!
The rest of the patch is bug fixes, all of which concern characters in the game. For example, Doomfist had many changes implemented in the PTR. His Rocket punch had three different bugs fixed, mainly concerning the effects and damage the attack did. His Seismic Slam was also adjusted.
Other hero fixes include Mercy’s Guardian Angel UI targeting, Moira’s Biotic orb passing through solid objects, Sombra’s Hack can now stop Tracer’s Pulse Bomb, and more.
