Blizzard is a gigantic company, one with a lot of money and quite a lot of popular, competitive games. If you have competitive games that are played by a lot of people, then you have to host quite a lot of tournaments too, and those require a venue. Blizzard, being the video game giant that it is, won’t just settle for any place to host their events at, so they’re making their own.
The Blizzard Arena Los Angeles was built in Burbank, California, and it was designed to be an excellent, top-notch environment for esports. Competitors and fans can attend all kinds of popular events for their favorite games, like Hearthstone, Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm, and StarCraft II tournaments. Currently, we only have news about a couple of events that will be hosted here, and those are the Overwatch Contenders Playoffs and the Summer Championship for the Hearthstone Championship Tour. Of course, we can expect more events after that, but for now, these are the ones that will certainly be held at the Blizzard Arena Los Angeles.
Since it is Blizzard we are talking about here, the Arena will have multiple sound stages, controls rooms, and even comfortable player lounges. And if someone wants to buy merch of their favorite game, the on-site Blizzard store will be open when an event is taking place there, but the merch will be based on that particular event.
The grand opening event of this Blizzard Arena will be the Overwatch Contenders Playoffs, which will be taking place on October 7 and October 8. After that, the Summer Championship for the Hearthstone Championship Tour will be taking place on October 13 and it will last for a whole weekend to see who can claim the grand prize of $250,000. The winners will then enter the Hearthstone World Championship finale in early 2018.
