World of Warcraft had a presence at Gamescom this year, and one of the big questions answered revolved around realm connections in the game. This point was emphasized by Battle.net user Zyrein, who was returning to the game to see that there was inactivity and huge faction imbalances when it comes to specific servers.
This is something that was addressed by game director Ion Hazzikostas at Gamescom this past week, having been asked a similar question during the event. Regarding realm connections, Hazzikostas stated that they are actively working on bringing out new ones: The last time we made realm connections was just before the launch of Warlords of Draenor. Since that time, there have been a lot of changes to our infrastructure on the server-side, which means the process we used to connect realms (before WoD) no longer works.”
More details are expected to be revealed for new connections soon. Social systems were also touched on too, though there were very little details in that regard, other than the team are looking to improve some of the guild systems in the future.
Not everyone is confident that these changes will be taking place, or at least anytime soon. Wipsie replied:
“We want to do” doesn’t mean its going to happen. Its lawyer language to make people believe that they are doing something without making any actual promises. He said the same about fixing leveling, about pristine realms, about pretty much every question that Ion was asked over the years.”
Hopefully this will be something that Blizzard can address in the near future.
