When the Star Wars standalone films came out, it opened a lot of possibilities in the universe for certain stories or characters to get the spotlight. We already saw this with Rogue One, and are going to get another in two years with a Han Solo standalone film. But, for many fans, a certain bounty hunter is a deserving candidate for a solo film. Boba Fett.
Ironically, the infamous bounty was set to get a film via director Josh Trank. Who was famous (at the time) for being attached to the Fantastic Four reboot. But, when the film went south, and Trank went a bit off the wire, the movie was scrapped, and put on hiatus, with no real news coming since.
However, a production listing states that not only is the movie still coming, there’s apparently a location set for the film, London. It’s curious why it would be there, but as the context of the film is still unknown, it’s unfair to judge it just because of the listing.
What makes fans so hungry for Boba Fett tales is easy, before the new movies were announced, Boba had his own share of stories in what was called the “Expanded Universe” in the comics and books.
There, he had not only escaped the Sarlaac Pit, but started his own bounty hunter group, killed Jedi and Sith, and even trained Han Solo’s daughter in one instance. But because of the movies, none of that exists anymore, so Boba Fett is still in the pit. Will he escape? Only Disney knows.
