Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is getting a promotion on PS4 that is sure to make many players happy. Mainly, it’s a free multiplayer week: a full week of free online matches with anyone in the world.
This week of free multiplayer will run from February 17 at 12:01 AM Pacific Time until Sunday, February 23 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time. Make sure to log into the PSN during that window to enjoy the perks of the free week. No membership is required to partake in these events.
This is an interesting move for the PS4 as well as Call of Duty. Infinite Warfare wasn’t met with the best of reviews as many gamers said that, while the gameplay was as tight as ever, the story made no sense at times. Also, the new gameplay mechanics, such as zero gravity fights, were OK but not up to the quality of previous titles.
To be clear, the game sold well, but players have been wondering whether the series is reaching too far to try and capture what made games like Modern Warfare and Black Ops so special. Thankfully, the Call of Duty team seems to be listening, as they announced that the next game (which is presumed to be coming this year) will go back to the game’s roots.
Does that mean World War II? Does that mean it’ll be more like Modern Warfare? Or is it something else entirely? We won’t know until an official announcement is made. In the meantime, enjoy the free week of Infinite Warfare.
