The iconic gaming company Atari has today released Goon Squad, which presents a card-based mob brawler to the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android platform. This mobile game sees players delve into a mob-run underworld where gambling and card battles are the order of the day.
Those who choose to indulge in Goon Squad will be tasked with rising to the top to become the ultimate mob boss through the means of intense card battles. You will start out as a lowly goon and work your way up the ladder to become Godfather in the free-to-play game. Your job will be to build the most effective criminal empire, by defeating your opponents and collecting cards.
There are a number of key features in Goon Squad, including head-to-head brawls to take on your rivals and earn rare cards, chips and cash through skulls and safes. You’ll also be able to take advantage of the game’s multiplayer modes, including co-op and four-player deathmatch modes to climb the leaderboard. You’ll also come across mob-based locations such as Chinatown, Reno and the Boardwalk, where you will have the chance to improve your reputation whilst claiming some special cards in the process.
Atari CEO Fred Chesnais commented:
“Set in the illustrious era of mobsters and criminal empires, the gameplay in Goon Squad is equal parts lighthearted and mischievous. With this launch, Atari builds on our experience in the simulation game market and our growing mobile portfolio, while taking a note from the increasing popularity of digital card games.”
