While its true that Kickstarter is often a haven for new ideas, sometimes an existing idea will come to Kickstarter in order to expand its reach. This is the case behind the card game SUPERHOT.
The game has been out for a few years now, even being on Steam, Xbox One, and VR. But with this Kickstarter, the game is being made “real,” as in tabletop gaming. The card game is part FPS shoot, but mixed with strategy elements you’d find in card games nowadays. It’s mechanics are based off the “Agent Decker” game, which itself has won many awards over its time.
As for how you play the game, you’re “frozen” in a moment of time, in which bad guys are heading your way, and you have to make the most of your cards to ensure you survive. From your weapons, to items you get, to the location you are in, all are vital in making sure you live, and your foes die. When you do fell a foe, their card will be given to you to use. Also, you can use cards to make foes go faster, or slow them down to ensure you have time to prepare for their arrival.
Cards will cycle between both your deck and the enemies deck, making each move all the more important. A wrong move can spell disaster, while a well placed card could mean victory for you.
Interestingly enough, SUPERHOT actually offers four modes of play for you to indulge in. You can play alone, play with a friend, play against two friends, or have tag team vs. tag team action. The choice is yours.
SUPERHOT has already reached its funding goal, in fact, it blasted past it. It’s nearing $90,000 raised with less than 3 days to go at the time of this posting. This means that any pledges made from here on out are guaranteed to get the rewards they wanted. So if you’re looking for a new tabletop card game to play, you might to try out SUPERHOT.
