The video game process has evolved greatly from what it once was. Now, there are many more steps a game developer can take to get their game out to the public. Take the team behind Shardbound for instance. They not only went to Kickstarter to get their game funded, but they also went to Steam Early Access so that their game could go through many phases of testing by the players themselves before full release. But now, the team is happy to unveil that their tactical collectible card game Shardbound is now free-to-play on Steam.
The team was all too happy to reveal this, and of course wanted to thank all the players who helped them get this far, and beyond:
“Everyone at Spiritwalk would like to express our gratitude to both our pre-Alpha players and our Kickstarter Backers. You helped us refine the game, reach Alpha, and get it onto Steam Early Access. Thank you!”
Shardbound is a collectible card game title that includes many tactical elements. For example, while you play the game you’ll get access to hundreds of units, and then have to build up your army so that you can challenge other players in “matches of cunning and skill.” Like a tactical strategy game, you’ll have to use positioning, the terrain that’s around you, and of course your units’ abilities and skills to win the battle.
The game itself is about a land that is in a gold rush of sorts. Shards from an ancient world have begun to fall from the sky, and everyone wants a piece of it. So, you’ll set up your own “noble house,” and go looking for them as well. You can play the game both alone, or with friends. And since it’s available for free right now on Steam, it should be pretty easy to check it out.
