In celebration of Star Wars Battlefront’s first anniversary, EA releases details on the upcoming Rogue One: Scarif expansion and Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission.
Star Wars Battlefront released to mixed reviews after an exciting promotion campaign filled with excitement and tears. Fans were over the edge with the fact that the beloved Battlefront spin-off of Star Wars games was being revived. Despite the concerns regarding Electronic Arts’ heavy hand on the intellectual property and the Star Wars games overall, due to how the company generally handles business, those acquainted with the brand couldn’t help being excited. Alas, its release was notably disappointing, but it managed to remain relevant.
While players get ready for the upcoming film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Star Wars Battlefront 2 (not to be confused with Star Wars: Battlefront II, the predecessor of EA’s title), they can continue overusing the Force in the fourth expansion, Rogue One: Scarif.
In Rogue One: Scarif, players will have the chance to explore the new planet Scarif, which also makes an appearance in the film sharing the same main title, coming to theaters on December 16. Two new characters, Jyn Erso and Orson Krennic, are said to join the battle, while a multi-stage game mode featuring space and ground combat will keep players entertained.
Additionally, owners of PlayStation VR will be able to experience Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission, a free DLC which gives players control over their very own X-wing–the iconic Star Wars ship–to carry out a mission for the Rebellion in immersive virtual reality.
To start off the celebration, an event is being held from November 17 through November 20, giving the chance for players to try out the previous expansions at no additional cost.
Star Wars Battlefront is available for Windows PC, PlayStation 4 and XBox One. Rogue One: Scarif and Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission come out on December 6, in anticipation for the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, in theaters December 16.
