Once again, Blizzard keeps amazing us with their decisions. The whole world is talking about the current situation with WoW, but that doesn’t throw Blizzard off the track. In the last announcement regarding Overwatch, Blizzard clearly stated their thoughts about potential cheating. Highlighting their fundamental state of mind “Play nice; play fair” Blizzard decided to take some drastic measures of prevention. Better safe than sorry, right? All that already, and Overwatch isn’t even out yet. It seems to us that this is only the beginning and that the 24th of May will be the start of something great.
To summarize it, Blizzard’s Banhammer will be prepared 24/7 for anyone who doesn’t play nicely and fairly. Even though that’s not something new, the big news is that Blizzard intends to skip warnings and monthly banning and go straight to permabans. That’s right! If someone uses any type of third party software or any other kind of cheating mechanism he/she will be permanently banned, without any second chances of redemption.
“The upcoming launch of Overwatch on May 24 is in many ways just the beginning, and we’re doing all that we can to prepare for that milestone and (perhaps more importantly) what comes after—not just in terms of new game content, but also how we can ensure a fair and equitable play environment for everyone.”
Furthermore, Blizzard encourages their respected players to report any situation that they think involves some kind of cheating. But, the strange thing is that Blizzard openly states that they would not give any answer or feedback but would definitely look into each and every submitted report.
