The developers of the upcoming open-world survival game Conan Exiles have outlined the first three steps players will take when starting the game. Conan Exiles is due out in 2017, releasing on Steam and Xbox One.
The developer team of the FunCom game have already showcased what Conan Exiles is all about in previous blogs, detailing the genre and gameplay features of Conan Exiles. In this third blog, the team discuss what players will be doing when they start out, including character creation and building a shelter.
A lot of questions have been raised by the Conan community regarding the character creator. The creator takes place as your character is left out to die on a crucifix in the Exiled Lands for criminal charges against you. The creator itself draws inspiration from the MMORPG genre to create something unique, using prefabricated faces to be tweaked and adjusted in several different ways. Players will have 11 hairstyles and 14 races to choose from, giving you the opportunity to create your Hyborian self. You will then choose the crimes you’ve committed, some more humorous than others, before you are cut down and sent out into the Exiled Lands to live.
Your survival instincts will be called upon from the beginning, searching for food, water and respite from the heat. As you traverse the harsh, unforgiving desert terrain, it would be wise to avoid the giant stone pillars surrounding the area, which highlight the Cursewall. These pillars mark to edges of the Exiled Lands, beyond which lies imminent death. The blog suggests players head for the mountains, picking up any stones and sticks they can find on their way.
