When it comes to crowdfunding, you often hear about the major successes or just the major fails. Today, we’re talking about a major hit. Because, game developer ArtCraft Entertainment, Inc., who are the makers of the highly anticipated Crowfall MMORPG, announced today the company has successfully completed its Title III, Regulation CF crowdfunding campaign with Indiegogo.com and Microventures.com, raising a total of approximately $670,000 from more than 1200 investors.
That’s an astonishing amount, especially when you consider that ArtCraft was one of only four companies selected for the launch of Indiegogo and MicroVenture’s new Equity Crowdfunding service. And it’s success, which is undeniable, may lead to more video game companies being offered this chance. Especially if it’ll lead to games like Crowfall being made.
“ArtCraft was one of only four companies selected for the launch of Indiegogo and MicroVenture’s new Equity Crowdfunding service.”
As for their title, Crowfall is a dynamic, Massively Multiplayer Online world where thousands of players take the roles of kings, queens, mercenaries and assassins all vying for control of a virtual throne. They define the title as a “Throne War Simulator,” as Crowfall differs from standard MMOs in that each server represents a single “campaign world”. By that, they mean that each one has a unique map, unique rules, and a limited lifespan. Thus, the campaign will last only a few months before one guild or alliance conquers the map, when that happens the characters collect the spoils of war and move on to the next campaign. Thus creating a game that is always fluid, and every campaign or event matters in regards to the game as a whole.
With the funds for ArtCraft Entertainment going into Crowfall, it’s clear that the game will not only be made, but also done in a way that’ll keep players happy.
