Crowfall is an upcoming MMO that aims to break the typical form, as you aren’t destined to save the world from monsters or one great evil. In fact, players don’t have any obligations in this world, you’re free to do anything that you desire. Your greatest obstacles will be other players, and they are also your greatest ally and your greatest enemy. The team behind the game has recently announced some changes concerning the Harvesting System, as well as changes coming to the loadout UI for power trays.
For those of you that didn’t catch the September Q&A, there’s more info on the upcoming changes to the Harvesting system. Designers Thomas Blair and Mark Halash talked about those, and they are the focus of today’s article. Before, you saw your Melee tray every time you hopped in and out of combat, which could be problematic if you wanted to harvest, but now when you want to harvest you move to the Survival tray. This isn’t all, as the Q&A also offered a glimpse of some new Harvesting animations, and above you can see the mockup for the new spellbook UI.
The main change is that players will no longer have to rely on F to Harvest. Instead, you will need to activate the Survival tray to harvest anything. This tray is separate from the Melee and the Ranged trays, and another convenient feature is that Harvesting will be mapped to the left mouse button, so you could harvest the resource you want to more easily. This Survival tray will also have your axes, hammers, picks, and other harvesting tools mapped, just as your skills are mapped to your Melee tray, and players can also equip potions or food to the Survival tray so that they can be used quickly and more effectively. Special Harvesting powers will be added, and you can then load them into your Survival tray.
