Crowfall, the brutal MMORPG in development from ArtCraft, released a new entry in their Bestiary today with the addition of the Giant. This bit of lore comes as the game continues development and funding, currently in Pre-Alpha 4 with Early Access available in the form of funding packages.
The story introducing the Giant to the world of Crowfall chronicles the first time a sturdy warrior named Miri encountered one. A stalwart victor in battle, Miri had encountered many challenges before, and stood strong while her companions turned green or fell before their enemies. But the first time she encountered a Giant, heralded by the earthquakes caused by its very steps, she found herself having to bolster her spirits in a way she had never felt before, in order to avoid showing her weakness.
We won’t know how the duel between Miri and the Giant ended, though presumably it was a close match between the two. The lore post comes complete with some concept drawings of Giants, with “hands so large they could pull up mountains by their very roots.” If players expect to come out victorious against one of these, it certainly will require skill and proper training.
Crowfall continues to be a highly anticipated game, after it’s Kickstarter campaign broke $2 million in funding. As of this post, a tracker on the game’s official site lists the funding total at over $11 million. The game is set to many traditional features of MMORPGs, and some more advance ones, like a kingdom editor complete with customizable forts, and a housing system. As a crowd-funded project, the developers have been sure to keep fans and financial supporters in a constant loop about the progress of the game.
Secure yourself early access to Crowfall by heading to their official site and purchasing one of the pledge packages. Stay tuned for more updates on the game as they unfold.
