Crowfall, the in-development MMORPG, had live streams with the game’s Concept Artist Dave Greco and Animator Eric Doggett. This was on November 17, and in case you missed it, here’s what happened.
In Dave’s stream, he showed us a pre-production of Elken Stalker. One of the 13 archetypes of Crowfall. A creature with human-like characteristics, but with an elk looking head. This character is for a class. It’s a long range sniper that launches “… javelins, for arrows,” as Dave says, but it can also attack at melee range. As a Hunter, it excels against stealth type classes, using traps along with his bow and “thick-bow-staff” weapon. For the gear, it’s going to have “Like a Forest ranger, type of gear”.
Dave doesn’t tell much about the story behind the character, but he reveals that these creatures used to be human. These humans ate a heart and they became corrupted, turning into these creatures. With this idea, they came up with something for this type of class, with a backstory like this. Whenever they loot a mob, they also get their meat. This will be used to, not only craft but also a method to replenish their hunger.
Most of the time, Dave talked about some of his ideas for the character, and what he wanted to do with it. To see the full stream of his concept for the Elken Stalker, see it here.
In Eric Doggett’s stream, we could see him animating a basic attack for unarmed combat. Unarmed combat is being developed because in Crowfall when a player begins the game, there will be no armor nor weapons. He reveals some attacks for the Champion and creates the attack animation for the Confessor. His full stream can be viewed here.
Crowfall will have another stream in December, so keep an eye out for it on their official site.
