Nerfs and buffs are often (perhaps too often) a conversation among the Overwatch fanbase. Given the game’s extensive roster, it is easy to see why so many alterations are implemented by Blizzard, though on a number of occasions feedback isn’t exactly positive.
One of the most famous cases regarding character changes was Roadhog, in which fans cried out for him to be nerfed for his hook ability, which saw the one-man apocalypse snatching people through objects and walls. What transpired was Roadhog being nerfed to the point where many players felt that his playstyle was completely shaken up to the point where he became unplayable for some.
In the recent PTR, it appears that D.Va may be suffering from a very similar fate. According to a post on Reddit, alterations to her defense matrix are a primary concern, with it’s overall effectiveness deteriorating after being lowered in skillcap. Her rockets are now “clunky” and easy to avoid, and perhaps most importantly, given that the traits that make her a tank character in the first place have been weakened, there’s no increased use in her DPS approach to compensate for it either.
As her status as a tank hero, it is worrying to see such drastic changes being made. Hopefully this is something that Blizzard will have picked up on in terms of the feedback, and will alter her accordingly.
