Brace yourself, Unkindled One. Bandai Namco has announced From Software’s first of two downloadable expansions for the critically acclaimed Dark Souls 3. Ashes of Ariandel will take players into a brand new environment inhabited by terrifying new enemies, lore and challenges, delving deeper into the Dark Souls universe.
Players will be tasked with defeating the evil within this new world, and help to uncover the mystery of how this rotted land came to be defiled. The Ashes of Ariandel expansion will also bring a set of new weapons, armour sets as well as magic for you to experiment with. There will also be additional features for the game’s competitive and widely popular multiplayer mode. The trailer showcases the expansion’s frozen location, with new features and boss battles for the first DLC of the cult RPG sequel.
Released back in April 2016, Dark Souls 3 marks the last entry in From Software’s Souls series, which began back in 2009 with the PlayStation exclusive Demon Souls. Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandal will be available to download on Xbox One, PS4 and PC via Steam on October 25th 2016. A season pass is also available for the game, which will include Ashes of Ariandal and a second expansion which is expected sometime in early 2017.
