Darknet was a title released in 2016 by E McNeill. A “hacker” title, the game went on to earn praise from critics, as well as a devoted online community. But now, with a collaboration from both Sony and Archiact, the game is coming to the PlayStation VR in 2017.
In the game, players will find themselves immersed in the darkest corners of cyberspace, which is known as the Darknet in the real world. Once there, you’ll have entire networks just waiting to be hacked; using viruses, exploits and other digital tools, it’s a race against the clock to collect data and conquer the deep web. Can you handle the challenge?
The team at Archiact like Darknet for the same reasons fan did when it released last year. Because to them, Darknet brings a kind of immersion that really makes VR feel like the tech breakthrough it is. By that, they mean it offers clever, challenging gameplay without a punishing learning curve, which at times can be really hard to do.
The team at Archiact has really been loving the 80’s cyberpunk vibes of Darknet since the game was first released, and not that the MOMENT they had the opportunity to join forces with the creator and build upon an already-proven title, they jumped right in. They have worked hard to refine and tailor Darknet for PlayStation VR, which is good, because the platform hasn’t had the best luck with games a whole. So, getting a title like this, which already has an established fanbase, may be very, VERY, good for it.
