You’d be surprised at times the things that make players smile and keep them interested in certain things in the video games they play. Sometimes, the big things don’t resonated, but the little details, the little nuances, the subtleties and lore that come from the game keep them wanting more, and thus will come back to it. For the original Destiny game, Bungie released an app that had a card collection called Grimoire. These cards would help flesh out the lore of the game, and people liked it. Yet, it won’t be in Destiny 2, and one player really isn’t happy about that.
This player is Nigel Peppercock, who went onto the Destiny 2 forums to ask Bungie why they’re removing Grimoire from the app that they made for the game. This decision to him makes no sense, as this was in many ways a saving grace for Destiny when it launched, because one of the earliest complaints for the game was that there wasn’t enough story or lore in it. Yet Grimoire had that and more.
“Instead of just deleting them all, why not unlock them all upon the release of D2. It could open up the world for new players who have never read the cards.” he laments
This gets even weirder for him when he found out the original Destiny forums was being kept on Battle.net, so why couldn’t the Grimoire cards be kept as well? What’s the harm in that?
Other Destiny 2 people weighed in on the issue, and some think that the reason Bungie took it out was because a “small percentage” of players only cared about the lore, and thus the cards. Others just think that the app wasn’t worth the effort, so they don’t care that it’s going away.
What about you? Do you think Grimoire should stay?
