Game developers have taken to the US PlayStation Blog to discuss which games from 2016 turned out to be their personal favorites. Some would consider this to be the year of delays, and while we’ve had a few catastrophes, it can still be said that many quality games launched this year.
Phil Nightingale, who served a senior designer role on Tethered, Secret Society has stated that Batman: Arkham VR is is favorite PS game of the year. He cites such reasons as its standard setting use of controls, items, navigation, and so on to create a truly cohesive VR experience.
Yosuke Hayashi, who was game director on Nioh selected Battlefield 1, which he states, “matches the era that’s depicted in the game, so it was a fresh perspective on recent shooters.”
Other games to make the list are exactly what you’d expect, with some developers choosing Final Fantasy XV, the
biggest JRPG launch of the year, while others choose games such as Dark Souls III or Doom, which managed to make a heavy impact with their launches as well. Doom was even nominated for several awards, including Game of the Year at this year’s Game Awards.
Of course, Game of the Year winner Overwatch also took the spotlight on this blog post, with its magnificent art and atmosphere, combined with its tight controls and active community spearheading its success.
