It’s great to see that a game that has had the elongated lifespan that Diablo III has had and can still not only attract a community of players to come forward to make suggestions on how to improve the game, but also have a development team that is always looking at new ways to improve the experience.
For some time now, it seems as though Blizzard has been wary of improving skills in Diablo III. Not to say that it hasn’t happened, but it has been put to the side compared to other aspects of the ARPG.
That was until the latest PTR patch, where it seems as though Blizz has put the time into working on class balance and build diversity. This is a good starting point to kick on and move into working on skills, runes and passives.
This opportunity could be used to fix some of the broken skills like Shield Bash, or focus on the less used passives and even rebalancing the runes. Hopefully this will be what’s next on the cards for Diablo III, but either way, it’s great to say that even at this late stage, Blizzard are still dedicated to bringing a better product to their legions of fans that still enjoy Diablo III after all these years.

Nice article, Ham. Agree. I think the skills were somewhat unbalanced until the PTR. Even the necromancer i thought was a little overpowered, especially if you get into the minion mode or play style. Beyond just fixes, if they would bring about a skill scaling system, that would be really great. I get that skills unlock after a certain level, but if those were to scale further.
I’m just saying if you had x skill and they unlocked runes 1,2,3. As your scale your paragon points, they need to scale to X1+a. Maybe it just sounds like rambling, but a lot of it after level 70, just requires you to grind, while the powers don’t scale unless you have crazy paragon points. Maybe in diablo 4? let’s see.
