Many fans are bound to have been disappointed to hear that Diablo will not be announcing anything new at Blizzcon this year. What has been revealed however, is that the developers are currently working on Diablo’s future, it’s just that there won’t be anything to announce in time for the annual event.
If you cast your mind back to last year, there were so many rumors regarding Diablo 4, only for Blizzcon 2016 to come and go with only revealing a new class for Diablo III, as well as a limited time event that took place back in January. Understandably, there were many fans who were left disappointed by the lack of news on a new game, or even the return of Diablo II as a remaster.
Despite there going to be a lack of news regarding the ARPG at Blizzcon 2017, it should be taken as a positive that the team behind the game are still passionate about the franchise, as highlighted by a post by community manager Lliodelur in a recent update on the official forums:
Patch 2.6.1 is on the horizon. Looking beyond that, we’re hard at work on the future of Diablo and exploring what’s next for the franchise. Please be patient. Our passion for Sanctuary burns as bright as the High Heavens and as hot as the Burning Hells—and we’re excited to hunker down and get working!
