For games with multiple playable characters, especially in the modern age of gaming, there’s always a question of whether characters will be added after launch. This is especially true for fighting games, MOBAs, shooters, and even RPG’s to an extent. For Overwatch, the roster has been growing since launch, but not at a rate that many approve of.
This includes the team at 12UP, who noted that the Sombra release (one of the post-launch champions) was “long, tedious, and drawn out.” And further went on to cement their opinion by stating that though it’s nice that Blizzard is doing special characters skins and special events, they need to focus on their heroes, and bringing in more. To their delight, and potentially yours, evidence is starting to show that Doomfist is the next Overwatch hero.
Doomfist is a character that started out small in the Overwatch universe, meant to be a “throwaway line”, and yet, he grew bigger as the game went on. There have been at least three Doomfists, and has been stated to be active currently in the universe, as character Reaper stated once that “Doomfist should do his own dirty work.”
What makes Doomfist unique is his gauntlet, which over the multiple incarnations has taken many different looks. One of the versions of the character was actually defeated by Winston, and the gauntlet was put on display in the Overwatch museum.
The reason for this belief that Doomfist is coming is via a 3D model pic that was posted by a Redditor. In it, it shows that the case that contains the Doomfist gauntlet (pictured above) has been broken, thus indicating that the user now has it again.
This isn’t official by any means, but it is intriguing, and something to look out for. Do you want Doomfist in the game? Let us know in the comments below!
