If you ask players right now what the most anticipated fighting game coming out in the next year is, 9/10 fans will likely say Dragon Ball FighterZ. This game shot out like a rocket the moment it was revealed at E3 2017. The game showed off not only an art style that resembled the beloved anime style in full, but it had the gameplay of a Marvel vs. Capcom or a Guilty Gear title. Which is ironic, as the team behind Guilty Gear is making the title.
Anyway, it’s been a few months since the reveal, and details have slowly been coming out teasing what the game will be. Well, ShonenGamez has revealed a new scan, and in it are two very surprising characters who will enter the game, as well as new details on the Story Mode.
Two more villains are joining the game in the form of Nappa and Captain Ginyu. Nappa was partners with Vegeta during the Saiyan Saga, and was famously betrayed by Vegeta, who then killed him. As for Captain Ginyu, he lead the Ginyu force against Krillin, Gohan, Vegeta, and eventually Goku during the Frieza Saga.
Now, as with all the other characters in Dragon Ball FighterZ, each character has their own strengths, weaknesses, and special attacks. Nappa can summon Saibamen to help in battle, whilst Captain Ginyu can use his signature “Body Change” ability to swap forms with his opponents.
The scan comes from the next issue of V-Jump, which revealed details about the Story Mode. For example, the player is a spirit of sorts that “bonds” to certain characters depending on the storyline. What’s more, the more the player “bonds” with the character, they’ll get to hear more from them.
Also, players will have options as to what they want to do in the game during the story mode. They can train, go and try and rescue allies, and more. Dragon Ball FighterZ is set to launch in Japan on February 1st according to the magazine. Could that be the release date for the rest of the world too?
