A brand new story arc is heading to the popular anime series Dragon Ball Super next year, which will take the cast into space. The arc is currently scheduled to air in February 2017.
The next arc for the anime series has recently been teased in a Japanese magazine, which allegedly states that the space survival arc will begin on February 5th. The tentative title is “The Survival of the Universe”, which will see Goku and co head to space. Based on past narratives for the series, it is likely that some form of fighting tournament will take place, pitting the 12 universe against each other. According to iTech Post, an undisclosed publication reveals the return of Yamcha (minus the scar) and will be one of the main heroes in the space survival arc. As of this time, there is nothing more to officially confirm regarding the upcoming arc.
Speaking of Dragon Ball Super in 2017, English-dubbed episodes will air on Toonami next year, with the first season airing on Adult Swim from January 7th. It was also recently announced that a spinoff novel of the manga series would be released soon, revolving around earthling punchbag Yamcha.
Dragon Ball Super debuted last year in July, and has since run for 70 episodes. It is the latest installment of the critically-acclaimed anime adaptation series, which first began with Dragon Ball back in 1986. This was followed up by Dragon Ball Z three years later, and Dragon Ball GT in 1996. The latest episode of Dragon Ball Super is scheduled to air on December 18th.
