Many video games have in-game promotions to help better display their title, and to offer unique items, weapons, or even characters at times to help sell their game even better. Sometimes, these deals are limited to regions, while others do often spread across the world. However, for Final Fantasy XIV and their recent “Eastern Journey Attire” promotion, it’s just now reached certain parts of Europe, and the players aren’t exactly happy with the results. Or more specifically, their inability to get the promotion.
This topic was brought to Reddit by user t1decaller, who noted that it was only after some time that this promotion came to other parts of Europe (after presumably being released in main areas of the continent). What’s worse in their eyes is that the site that’s used for the purchase of the promotion, Shopto.net, appears to be “suspicious looking site that doesn’t even function properly.”
But that’s not all they’re unhappy about.
You see, many of the items that they’re offering on the site are apparently all for the PS4, which some Final Fantasy XIV users, including t1decaller, don’t have. And the only other thing they would want, Time Cards, were sold out before the promotion even began. So they’re in a no-win situation.
This has raised some ire as well as confusion. They wonder why Square Enix didn’t just do this promotion via Amazon or some other reputable site. And of course, they wonder why this promotion is restricted to the PS4. Also, they note that the US has a much easier time getting these promotional items, while they in Europe have to struggle for it.
Many Redditors weighed in on the subject. Some were very confused about the situation, and others were like t1decaller and wondering why this even was brought to them if they couldn’t get anything significant. We’ll just have to wait and see how this all plays out.
