EVE Online players can take part in a unique contest that has them telling their story for a chance at winning special prizes.
Known for its intricate sandbox aspect, the Icelandic space simulator MMO EVE Online recently gave some of their most important players a chance to share their stories. Now, CCP Games wants to know what other pilots have experienced in their time around New Eden. To participate and have a chance at winning prizes, players will have to record a video telling their story in EVE Online.
The video in question can consist of gameplay footage, voice-overs, motion graphics and even have the person behind the ship front and center, as long as it tells a story that happened in EVE Online, whether it was a declaration of war, a successful trade, or anything else that marked that person’s experience within the game. The content must be uploaded to YouTube and tweeted to @EVEOnline with the hashtag #myEVEstory. Furthermore, the link for the tweet must be sent to [email protected] and contestants must make sure they are following @EVEOnline and have direct messages enabled.
Although it offers creative freedom, the competition has a few rules that every contestant should follow. Entries can be submitted from today until January 31 and the video must be no longer than 3 minutes. Furthermore, no copyright material should be used unless the rights are held by CCP Games (check their Soundcloud profile for music owned by the company). Finally, the video must be teen rated and follow the EVE Online EULA and Terms of Service.
Three winners will be announced and contacted via Twitter direct messages on February 6. The lucky pilots will take home an array of prizes based on their tier. Highlights go to two years of Omega Time and a signed limited edition copy of The Frigates EVE book to the first place, a year of Omega Time and a signed standard hardcover copy of The Frigates to the second place, and half a year of Omega Time and a signed copy of EVE: True Stories comic book to the third place.
EVE Online is a sci-fi space simulation MMO available for Windows PC, Linux, and Mac.
