One of the many things that separate MMORPGs from other genres is that from the outset, you usually have a lot of options about what class of characters you want to be. And from that point on, you’re constantly growing that character as you go out into the world itself. Players have had a lot of time with these classes, and thus can offer insight into what works, or what doesn’t. Or, in the case of Final Fantasy XIV, players can think up their own classes that they’d like to see.
This comes from Redditor Leidiriv, who decided to create his own class (based on the Heavensward style of skill acquisition) and show it off to his fellow Final Fantasy XIV players to see what they thought. His class is called the Dancer, and it’s a bit more sinister than you might think it’d be. You see, these Dancers are known for worming their way into criminal syndicates and then taking them out from the inside out. Yet, because of who they are, they’re never suspected of doing such a thing, making them very deadly.
What’s more, while at first the Dancers were noble, some have decided to take power for themselves, and would even fight in battles to assert their power and dominance. Their skills are a mixture of blade and magic, making them dangerous at all ranges and they have some very interesting abilities to back it all up.
Sadly, not all the other Final Fantasy XIV were as impressed with the Dancer idea. Many other players feel character is overly complex, and apparently Square Enix is trying to work away from these overly complex classes.
Others though were a bit more positive, and even offered ideas on how to make the class better. What do you think? Could Final Fantasy XIV use a class like the Dancer?
