For Honor is now available for eager players to hack and slash their way through friends and foe alike. Among the excitement for the release of the game, there has been an interesting debate which players of the game have been discussing, which focuses on the potential imbalance between attacking and defending. The game allows for both offensive and defensive strategies, from varieties of attacks, to blocks, dodges and parries on the defensive side.
While this sounds like a reasonable balance, some players are reporting that the defensive capabilities appear to have a slight advantage, with some cases there being a situation where a player doesn’t need to necessarily attack, and that they could wear their opponents down defensively before striking. This doesn’t apparently seem to affect all character classes, one of which being the Warden, who has very fast attacks that even the best defenders could struggle to withstand.
Stamina too has been a topic of discussion, as players on Reddit debate how it affects both offensive and defensive capabilities. Whilst it does have a knock-on effect in attack, defensive measures such as rolling and blocking are still available to the player. Whilst some agree that having these defence traits isn’t punishment enough for running out of stamina, others argue that removing for example the dodge mechanism from the situation, it could cause balance issues to the game.
