Many teams are taking the time as the year draws to a close to reflect on what 2016 did for their games. Critical Forge has decided to do that for their upcoming title: Forged of Blood. The game has been in development since February, and as the year ends, they wanted to update/reflect on what’s happened so far, and what will come.
Funnily enough, the team admits that when they started this journey in February, they didn’t even have a full team. In fact, outside of some basics of what they wanted Forged Of Blood to be, they didn’t have a lot of concrete things set. But as the year went on, the team focused on the combat, which they felt was the heart and soul the title. They wanted a Fantasy Turn-Based RPG, but they wanted more than just that. They wanted layers. Thus why they focused on the combat first, even releasing a video to show what they had in mind:
Despite that good start, the team knew they also had to fulfill the story side of the game, and thus they got together the 5000 year history of their world, along with the skeleton story that they would have the players going through. They’re still growing it, but they’re hopeful.
Their plans for the next year is to buckle down even more and make an epic game, while funding the rest of production through a Kickstarter that will launch early in 2017. They still aim to have the game done by 2018, and will work very hard to get it done.
