You’d think with the release of Destiny 2 that the sequel from Bungie would be dominating the top played games lists, at least until more big releases pop up before the end of the year. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case as far as the Xbox One is concerned, with the console having a rather surprising underdog at the top of the most played games list. In this case, Epic Games’ Fortnite has found its way to the peak of what players are playing the most on that particular platform at the time of writing this.
Fortnite released earlier this year, and its popularity skyrocketed and introducing a free Battle Royale update, which offered console players a similar experience to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. This would have been a major kick in the pants for PUBG, considering they have been beaten out to the console platform by Fortnite, which is clearly enjoying a popularity surge of its very own.
As for the rest of the most played games, Destiny 2 sits in second place, followed by NBA 2K18, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege and Grand Theft Auto V. With a free-to-play title beating the likes of Destiny 2 to top spot, it is a clear indication that fans are looking for a game that offers up an experience like PUBG. Although it may be frustrating for PUBG to have competition like Fortnite hitting consoles first, it only emphasizes how badly players want the likes of PUBG to arrive on Xbox One, which it is expected to do so later this year.
