It’s amazing to look at just how far Fortnite has come since its inception. Touted by Epic Games since E3 2011, the game started out as a strategy game to build a fort to fight off zombies. But then, when the game added its free Battle Royale mode, it took on a completely new life. It appealed to many who liked the idea of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, but couldn’t play it on consoles because it wasn’t there. But Epic games has also been working on keeping the game fresh.
For example, while PUBG has one mode and sticks to that, Fortnite continues to swap new modes in during special periods to give players something fresh and new. Last year, they did a special 50v50 mode, and it was a big hit. And today, Epic Games revealed that “Sniper Shootout” is now available to play by all. If you can’t tell, this is a match made for snipers.
The twist, if not obvious, is that the weapons in Sniper Shootout are going to be limited. But not just to sniper rifles, Epic Games knows better. No, you can use sniper rifles, revolvers, as well as grenades. Everything else though is off the table, so be wary of that.
This match is no doubt going to be fun to witness, as the game has just become even more strategic. How do you plan your attack when your enemies are litearlly all around you…with sniper rifles? How will you try and hide yourself so you can survey the area without getting caught in the scope of a foe? And dare you move when the entire battlefield could be considered crossfire?
These are the questions you must ask yourselves, but only for a limited time. So if you’re looking for something fresh to do in Fortnite, this is what you’ve been waiting for.
