If you’re even viewing this site in the first place, you’re likely a fan of video games. If that’s the case, you’d be doing yourself a major disservice to miss out on one of the greatest gaming award shows of the year. The Game Awards are hosted yearly and offer an opportunity for us to reflect on the industry over the course of the calendar year.
There is plenty to talk about indeed, as a lot has happened since the previous award show. This includes the likes of Nintendo announcing their new console, the Nintendo Switch.
We also have the advent of virtual reality to celebrate. The medium reached new heights this year, as the Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR, and HTC Vive consumer models were made available over the span of this year.
Some companies like to use the Game Awards as an opportunity to announce new upcoming titles, and content for pre-existing games. Nintendo, for instance, has already confirmed that new footage for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be shown at the event. That being said, they might also announce the delay that has been rumored for the past several weeks.
If you’re interested in watching the show live, hosted by Geoff Keighly, you can view the Game Awards on December 1st at 5pm PST. Platforms such as the Xbox One, PS4, and even a few mobile VR platforms will support the viewing of the event, and it can also be seen on Twitch.
Again, this event focuses on every aspect of the industry, touching on all games from the most obscure independent titles to the most prominent triple-A games.
Make sure you don’t miss this celebration of all of the great things our industry has achieved this year. Find the Game Awards on a platform near you!
