For certain titles, the characters that fill the game are just as important, if not more, as anything else the game has to offer. Why? Because these characters are the ones you’ll not only battle as, but battle against. They’re a constant, and the dev team put a lot of work putting each and every one of them into the game, and that is to be respected. But also, it is to be explored when a new character is revealed. Gigantic recently revealed a new character, and now the dev team is talking more about him.
This comes straight from the Gigantic website, where the team talks about Oru, the “mid-range damage dealer who shines best in teamfights.” In fact, Oru is quite a handy fighter to play as/have on your team. He specializes in combo attacks, and he can do some pretty high damage. He also works great as a crowd control guy, or one that can get away from a fight easily.
Interestingly enough, when Oru was being designed for Gigantic, the goal was to make a champion that countered a team strategy called “deathball”. This is where players unite in a small area to do massive fights, and by extension, do massive damage. So, they developed with that in mind, but even they were surprised by how well suited Oru was for the task, and then some. If a smart player wields him well, everyone is in trouble.
For example, Oru has the ability to cast “fortune cards”, and each of them has a special ability once “revealed”. If a group of enemies are clumped together, Oru can unleash the cards, reveal the ability, and a nice AOE will make them all hurt.
So, if you’re playing Gigantic, and you see an Oru coming for you, you better be ready, for this trickster is something to be wary of.
