In gaming, there are many franchises that you don’t think will work for one reason or another. And yet, they resound with gamers, so much so that the games continue and become a staple of platforms, as well as generations. One of those “oddball” franchises is Harvest Moon. The farming simulator is hardly the most action-packed game ever, yet, it has endured for 20 years. To celebrate, the team at Natsume have released the newest game in the franchise: Harvest Moon: Light Of Hope on Steam.
This game is meant to be a true celebration of everything that Harvest Moon represents. Fun gameplay, easy to pick up, and yet has an adventurous streak that makes you feel like talking on all that you can. The story of Harvest Moon: Light Of Hope is one of a person wanting to make a new life for themself. They set sail onto the ocean to reach a destination…but…a storm picks up, and sinks the ship. You yourself wind up in a small town, being saved by a doctor named Jeanne.
You find out that the town was badly destroyed by the storm, and you decide to stay and bring it back to life!
To do so, you’ll need to farm crops for food, tend to livestock to get other necessary materials for living, search areas for supplies so you can repair the town, as well as fixed the lighthouse so you can be saved!
As this is a Harvest Moon game, the social aspect of things is also a key gameplay feature. You can make friends, as well as take on a spouse and have kids, all as you try and make a life for yourself.
