Many video games have gone to the World War II setting and have told various tales there. They’ve let you play as soldiers who have lived through the war, they’ve let you control soldiers to guide them through battles, they’ve let you play every side of the war. But, have they ever truly put you in a battle that feels like it’s from the war itself? Well, that’s what the team from Black Matter are aiming to do with their “simulation game” Hell Let Loose, which has recently launched on Kickstarter.
The reason that they call it a simulation (instead of a massive shooter) is because they put a lot of time and effort into truly nailing the feel of a battle from a war. The game will have maps that are 4km2 in size and can have up to 100 players on the maps trying to take advantage of situations for their sides to win. There will be soldiers, tanks, explosives, and more, all in the pursuit of giving you a realistic battle feel.
Part of that feel is the idea of a “shifting front line”. You’ll need to adapt to the constantly changing paradigm in order to survive. But how you choose to do so is up to you. There are plenty of vehicles you can use to try and shake things up. You can lead platoons of men to try and complete objectives. There are resources you’ll need to manage as well as take from the enemy, Hell Let Loose is truly deep in its interpretation of the war.
The team behind the game are working hard to ensure that this game stands out from all the others and promise a truly innovative experience.
Hell Let Loose will be on Kickstarter until October 30th, if you’re looking for a new WWII gaming experience, check out the Kickstarter and consider pledging.
