Blizzard is celebrating the Year Of The Rooster by bringing in special events for all of its titles. This includes Heroes Of The Storm, which was actually the first of the Blizzard games to get the Year Of The Rooster announcement. With that coming, the Blizzard team did a Patch Notes post to detail the changes, updates, and fixes the Lunar Festival is bringing.
First up, the Lunar Festival Quests and Rewards. There is a quest to complete the Rooster Race once. If you do, the reward is 200 Gold. If you want more of a challenge, and more of a reward, you can try to complete the Rooster Race 25 times during the 2017 Lunar Festival event. If you do, you’ll get the Lunar Rooster Portrait and the Lunar Rooster Mount.
Another big change is that the Sandbox Custom Games are now available. A new version of Cursed Hollow has been added to Custom Games that will allow up to 10 players at once to use a wide variety of “cheats” to test the absolute limits of their Heroes in multiplayer, via sandbox-style gameplay. So if you’re looking for a new way to play, this is probably it.
There have also been performance enhancements. Mainly, the Blizzard team improved the performance of a rendering system that is used across most Hero Abilities and environment effects. This will likely improve framerates during team fights on many systems.
Easily one that many will resonate with though is that there’s a new hero in Heroes Of The Storm. Valeera. The gladiator Valeera Sanguinar served dutifully as one of Varian Wrynn’s personal bodyguards once upon a time. But now, her shadowy skills find her a natural fit within the secretive rogue order, the Uncrowned, in their fight against the Legion.
