As part of the Hero week on Battle.net, the focus is on the missing ruler of Stormwind, Varian Wrynn. The High King of the Alliance and Warcraft melee character has already “shaped the destiny of Azeroth” and will soon make his presence known throughout the entirety of the Nexus in Heroes of the Storm.
Varian’s talents include Victory Rush, Warbringer and Shattering Throw. Victory Rush allows Barian to keep his health up after killing minions provided by a shot of health on basic attacks. Warbringer grants him his only means of crowd control besides the Taunt Heroic Ability. Warbringer also gives Varian’s charge a stun effect, which comes in extremely handy for taking down assassins, chasing and interrupting other’s abilities. As for Shattering Throw, the more self-explanatory technique does huge damage to opponents’ shields, making Varian highly effective against tank and warrior characters in the game.
To get the most out of Varian, he works well with the likes of Chromie, who’s Sand Blast and Dragon’s Breath can land consistently thanks to Varian’s crowd control abilities. Teaming with Kerrigan can also prove to be a deadly combination with them both having point-click engage tools and hefty damage. Zagara’s starting strength can also compensate for Varian’s early game weaknesses.
