We all heard about Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard’s new MOBA that came out last year. The game where all of Blizzard’s other games were combined and the most popular characters were thrown into the arena to battle each other. There is a wide variety of heroes, and the game just got its newest addition presented, Auriel – Archangel of Hope.
Auriel is a utility based support, with some complexity to her kit. Her primary abilities are as follows:
Her Q is called Sacred Sweep. As you can assume from the name, it sweeps the are with sacred magic, dealing 80 damage to opponents and an additional 160 damage to the heroes that are in the center. This ability gives her some kill potential, which you can rely on in team fights and skirmishes.
Her W is Ray of Heaven, and it is the reason why she is going to be mostly played as a support. Auriel uses her saved up energy, heals an ally for the amount of energy that was used.
Detainment Strike, her E, deals 100 damage to the first enemy hit, knocking them back. If the enemy hero collides with terrain, they get stunned for 1.25 seconds and take an additional 100 damage. Players should use this ability as soon as the enemy hero is close to a part of the terrain. Knocking back an assassin into a wall will drastically change the pace of the game.
Now we will switch focus on her Heroic abilities. First one is Crystal Aegis, the ability which places an allied hero into Stasis, making them invulnerable for 2 seconds. Upon expiration, Crystal Aegis deals 270 damage to all nearby enemy heroes. This will be her main initiation tool in team fights, and if an allied hero has his health low you can ult him, potentially saving his life.
Second Heroic ability is Resurrect. Auriel channels the spirit of a dead ally for 3 seconds, resurrecting them back to life with 50% of their maximum health.
